With great sadness, the Motorcycle Group of emap usa reports that Greg McQuide, Associate Editor at Motorcyclist magazine, was fatally injured on Friday, June 23. His boundless enthusiasm and irrepressible spirit simply cannot be replaced.

Greg was in North Carolina for the annual Honda Hoot event. Witnesses say he was riding alone on eastbound Interstate 40, in the left lane, when a truck he was approaching moved suddenly into his path. Trying to avoid the truck, he ran into the median and struck a guardrail. He was dead on the scene.

Greg is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen McQuide of Delmar, NY, and his brother, Andrew.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, June 30, at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, NY 12054. Condolences may be sent care of that address.

A gathering is also scheduled in Southern California, for Greg's many friends and fans to come together in the spirit he would appreciate. It will be Friday, July 14, 6:00-9:00 p.m., at the Petersen Automotive Museum, 6060 Wilshire Blvd. (at Fairfax), Los Angeles, CA 90036.

Greg McQuide was born July 31, 1969, and grew up in Delmar, NY. He attended the University of Rochester, where he received his BA in English, then went on to earn a Master's degree in creative writing at Emerson College, in Boston. He joined Motorcyclist in August, 1998.
